Ideal Scene

Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain is an interesting book.  All the exercises in visualization are great, and I’m writing them down in my Planner Pad to remember them all.  One in particular stood out to me today: the Ideal Scene.

Ideal Scene Exercise

  • Take a sheet of paper.  Think of one of your goals and write it on top.
  • On the next line, write Ideal Scene.
  • Describe the scene; Write down, in present tense, what your situation looks like with your goal achieved.
  • At the bottom of the page, write “This or something better is now manifesting for me.”
  • Sign your name.
  • Visualize and bask in what you just wrote.

That’s all!

What is your Ideal Scene?

Breaking Down Your Goals

Now that you have your year and month goals, break them down even further into weekly and daily to-dos.

Sometimes thinking of big goals stops me in my tracks. Not in the energy sense– if the goal matches who you are and what you love, thinking about it will bring a lot of excitement and spark.  It’s immobilizing in the sense that you don’t know where to begin and what to do now.

My example: I want to make $4,000 a month.  This sounds amazingly great and I love this goal.  But in the here and now, how would I get there?  Break it down! What avenues can get me the money?  What skills do I need to learn now/activities do I need to do now to achieve this amount each month?

Today, my breakdown’s allowed me to move closer to my goal: 15 cold calls, Craigslist ads, Constant Contact send outs and a couple emails.

How can you breakdown your goals today?

Make Your Goals Known!

Thinking about goals is fun.  What would you rather focus on: the annoying traffic, the mundane work you have to finish, or the life you imagine for yourself? The answer is obvious (and we all must make sure we focus on that obvious answer instead of wallowing in the annoying and mundane).

How to focus on goals?

Make your goals known!  Decide exactly what you want to get, do and have. Write them down.  Put your goals in a place where you’ll see them.

I just did this for my year’s goals and put them in my new Planner Pad.  I’m writing my April Goals as we speak.  If you decide exactly what you want, write it down and put it in a place where you’ll read it at least once a day, you begin the path to achieving your goals!

Tie It To a Goal

“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.” –Albert Einstein

With the anticipation of a new month, this week’s focus will be on my goals and my goals alone.  It’s my chance to ensure I’m heading in the right direction, to put my Planner Pad to good use, and to practice visualization and focus techniques.  These things are muy importante after all…

Planning and the Art of Productivity

I used to love using a planner when I was in school.  I remember getting this brand spanking new calender every year–to record my homework, activities and countdown days until summer.  Since high school ended, I haven’t found a planner system that really work for me…until now hopefully!

I just got a Planner Pad.  It incorporates your goals, your weekly to-dos, your daily to-dos and your appointments all in one.  It starts next week (because you can order one starting every 3 months), and I cannot wait!

What does planning have to do with productivity?  EVERYTHING!  It takes preparation to get what you want and now I’m getting that element.  It better help 😀
