I just got a book from the library entitled, Creative Visualization, by Shakti Gawain. I heard it was a great book about goals, affirmations and visualizations, and so far, I’m convinced all I heard is true.
The first exercise in the book sounded simple enough. Basically, you relax your body through deep belly breathing and get into a peaceful, calm place. Then, you think of something you desire. Shakti suggests to start with something you know you can get, do or have. Finally, you picture this desire in your life: imagine yourself receiving it, using it, enjoying it and living it. She recommends doing this at least once a day in order to achieve your goals and desires.
I decided to take her advice on something small the first time. I relaxed by body, took deep, calming breaths, and started to see a Kombucha tea in my life. This is fun, I thought. By this time I was deeply relaxed, and I decided to try another desire. This time I visualized going door-to-door and getting a janitorial account.
The next thing I know, it’s 20 minutes later…I fell asleep! I guess there’s such a thing as too relaxed!
